Souby Boski will teach begiining and experienced artists to “Loosen Up” their paintings. Souby uses gestural and abstracted forms to define her richly textured compositions. Her loosely painted canvases are immediate responses to her visceral connection with her subjects. She holds a BA in Art Education from Stetson University and a MALS in Art from Wesleyan University. Since 2004 she has been teaching painting and workshops throughout Connecticut, New York, Massachusetts and Florida.
In this workshop students, who can use acrylic or oil paints, will learn how to loosen up and apply their paint in a gestural, painterly manner! Techniques and observations focus on what it takes to “loosen-up” your paintings. Nearly all of these tips have a common denominator – simplification. The more you simplify what you do, the more it frees your mind to concentrate on staying loose.
Students will practice using bigger brushes, more paint and working faster. We will take color to new unexpected places by working with various colors and departing from realism. Bring several canvases, reference photos, and painting supplies plus an easel: a complete list will be provide upon registration.
Fee for the class is $125. Souby requests that students be vaccinated against covid. For questions about the content of the class contact Souby at20 3-917-0519 or [email protected]. Registration is online at www.studiosofcocoabeach.org
