We will gather briefly at the Visitors Center at 8:55 Saturday morning.
From there, we will go to the Hammock Trails which are a little way farther along State Road 402 for a good warm-up hike. Then we will enjoy the scenic coastal drives of Merritt Island. There are always lots of sea birds, so bring your camera and binoculars.
Directions: the address of the Visitors Center is 1987 Scrub Jay Way Titusville, FL.
Note that “Scrub Jay Way” is merely the drive way of the Center, which is on SR 402.
Get there by going through Titusville, then across to the Island via the Max Brewer Memorial PKWY.
Special notices:
The Visitors Center is closed, hence no restroom. There should be a tent in front of the building. We have no need to enter the tent, but should enjoy the boardwalk behind the building.
There was a controlled burn this week. We may have a chance to inspect the burn site.
A rocket launch is scheduled for Thursday. It may be rescheduled for Saturday. In this unlikely event, Merritt Island will be closed.
Bring a snack and water, and wear your covid mask. I will have extra masks in case of need.
