Courtney Jean Nash was a healthy, active 16-year-old when she was suddenly struck down by a rare case of infection caused by amoebas.
Her 2011 death was caused by swimming in the warm summer waters of the St. Johns River. The widespread media coverage and attention to this tragedy spurred the Courtney Nash Amoeba Awareness Foundation Inc.
Because Courtney had a caring and giving spirit, her memory is being kept alive in the spirit of giving the gift of life. Since the inception of the Courtney Jean Nash Blood Drive in 2013, over 1,000 lives have been saved with their blood drives. โค๏ธ๏ธ
