If you think it’s too cold to go to the beach this month, then you are a true Floridian and you need to visit the Downtown Art Gallery in downtown Titusville to view the work of Bruce Deshetler. He is their February Spotlight Artist and his carefree, energetic interpretations of life at the edge of the sea will brighten any winter day.
Bruce has been an artist since he was old enough to hold a pencil. He grew up simply sketching any and everything. Then 10 years ago his wife suggested he add color. That began his journey as a self taught artist learning to control watercolors. His first works were inspired by 1950’s advertising art, especially maps and scenes from Old Florida tourist ads. He has moved on to psychedelic views of clouds and waves inspired by Japanese woodblock prints.
Bruce says “ I try to capture the feel of small town, east coast Florida and the natural, unspoiled beauty of Playalinda Beach. My business name is Latitude 28, honoring our map location and the true tropical feel of my home in Florida.”
Bruce’s paintings are on view at the Downtown Art Gallery , 335 S. Washington Ave, downtown Titusville, Monday thru Friday 11am to 4 pm, Saturday 11am to 3 pm, or by appointment. This amazing art gallery, which also offers printing and framing services, features the work of 19 local artists with an emphasis on Florida themes.
