The Downtown Art Gallery in Titusville is home to 20 local artists who work in a variety of mediums: painting, photography, ceramics, sculpture, jewelry, wood and fibers.  But they all have a common interest and pride in the space program.  Many have worked at the space center.  Others arrived in the area in the 60’s when parents joined the manned space effort.  Each has found a way to incorporate space themes in their work.

The Downtown Art Gallery is putting a “Spotlight on Space” and these themed artworks will be on view throughout the month of June.  Whether it is a long exposure photo of a beautiful rocket launch or out of this world images interpreted by these talented creators, you are sure to enjoy seeing space through the eyes of an artist.

Jim Boland is exhibiting his photo of Space Shuttle Atlantis’ last landing. He captured the rarely seen residue leftover from orbital reentry, a sad and touching reminder that this year marks 10 years since this final flight left and returned to Florida.

All the art is on view and available for sale throughout June at the Downtown Art Gallery, 335 S. Washington Avenue. And it’s a great source of father’s day gifts. The gallery is open Monday to Friday 11 am to 4 pm and Saturday 11 am to 3 pm. For more information call 321-268-0122
