On Saturday, October 23 we celebrate kindness, inclusion and bullying prevention in our community at the 4th annual #BeABuddy 5K and Family Health and Fitness Expo – now in Gleason Park! This Running Zone managed 5K race will start and finish in beautiful Gleason Park in Indian Harbour Beach, Florida. Run, walk or roll with us and grab your friends/family to rock your custom race shirt – this year featuring “Buddy” on our pumpkin-themed, soft and wearable tees perfect for fall ! Division awards, prizes, DJ, vendors, fitness games and Free Kids Fun Run are all part of the event! #BeABuddy is an initiative led by The Parker Foundation for Autism and Child Development and connects typical youth as “Buddies” with children who have autism, thereby aiding their development and confidence in sports, arts and education programs. The Parker Foundation offers free resources in the community and the #BeABuddy 5K is a signature fundraiser event. Sponsors, vendors and donations of all levels are welcomed as an important part of achieving our mission of hosting adaptive programs for children with autism and their families, and breaking down barriers among our youth to aid bullying prevention. Guests can sign our Unity Banner and take a photo in our fall-themed photo area and actively participate in other visible ways to help bring an end to bullying in our community.
